Wondering what else you can do with your SLP degree?
SLPathways helps speech-language pathologists explore new career possibilities, recognize the value of their expertise, and design careers that better align with their strengths, goals, and season of life.
For SLPs who are clinically skilled, quietly restless, and ready to explore what comes next — within the clinic, beyond it, or somewhere in between.
Let’s Explore What Comes Next
You’ve done everything right — the degree, the clinical hours, the certifications, the continuing education — and somehow, you still find yourself wondering: Is this really it?
If you have ever wondered what else you could do with your SLP degree beyond clinical care, you are not alone.
Wanting something more or different does not mean you chose the wrong profession. It simply means that your career is ready to evolve with you.
You have years of clinical expertise. You have served patients, families, students, and teams. You learned to think critically, communicate clearly, solve complex problems, educate others, lead, and advocate fiercely. But somewhere along the way, the role stopped growing and you started shrinking to fit it.
Maybe you want more flexibility, income, autonomy, or creativity. Maybe you want to teach, write, consult, innovate, and explore non-clinical career pathways that allow you to feel more challenged, valued, and fulfilled. Maybe you still love clinical work, but no longer want it to be the only way to define your identity and impact.
SLPathways was created for that reason. To help you recognize the value of what you already know as an SLP, explore what else is possible, and take practical steps toward a career that fits who you are becoming.

Why I Created SLPathways™
For a long time, I believed that my career as a medical SLP was supposed to follow a linear path. And it did. From grad school to clinical fellowship in acute care to working in skilled nursing facilities and then leading an outpatient team in a prestigious academic medical setting.
I spent over a decade building deep clinical expertise as a medical SLP across complex healthcare settings. I cared deeply about my patients, led teams, contributed to research, taught future clinicians, and showed up fully for my profession. I pursued board certification in swallowing, won awards for continuing education, and volunteered with state and national associations, to help advance the profession. By every traditional measure, I was successful.
But gradually, I started to see more problems in healthcare that needed fixing and not enough SLP voices being part of the solutions. COVID changed the way many of us thought about work and what we wanted our lives to look like. Burnout and the income ceiling became harder to ignore. And motherhood completely shifted my priorities.
I began asking deeper questions about how I wanted to spend my time, where I could make the greatest impact, and whether my career could offer more flexibility, opportunities for innovation, and income.
I kept asking myself the same quiet question: Is this all there is?
I was not looking to walk away from speech-language pathology. I simply wanted to expand what it could look like for me. I wanted to use my clinical expertise in new ways, contribute beyond direct patient care, be home with my son, help shape better systems and solutions, and design a career that could evolve alongside my life.
The path didn’t seem to exist, so I began creating it. Step by step, I built a portfolio career that combined my expertise with education, research, consulting, leadership, entrepreneurship, and healthcare innovation — all grounded in the clinical foundation I spent years developing as an SLP.
Now I want to help others do the same.
You don’t have to start from scratch or figure this out alone. Whether you are experiencing burnout, navigating parenthood or another major life transition, caring for aging parents, simply curious about non-traditional opportunities, seeking greater impact, or more income, SLPathways™ resources will help you move forward with greater clarity, confidence, and intention.
Let’s design the next chapter of your SLP career— together!
Your SLP career is bigger than one role, setting, path, or one version of success.
The future of speech-language pathology needs clinicians who can lead, Educate, innovate, advocate, communicate, and CREATE MEANINGFUL CHANGE.
That does not mean every SLP should leave clinical care. It simply means that SLPs deserve to recognize the full value of their skills — and understand how those skills can translate across settings, roles, and industries, as their lives, priorities, and ambitions evolve.
SLPathways™ exists to help SLPs expand their career possibilities, while staying true to who they are, what they value, and the impact they want to create. We just need to give ourselves permission to imagine more.
Ready to design your next chapter?
You don’t need to know exactly where you are going yet.
You simply need a place to begin.

Your career does not have to follow a linear path. Give yourself the permission to intentionally design a career that fits your values and life. I look forward to being part of your journey!
